1. 1. Basics
To launch 6DEF.COM Video Driver , double click on 6def_vd.exe. The little icon will appear in the status bar of MS Windows (bottom right hand corner of desktop).
Launch the client software - the software which you want to use the video with (ex: MSN Messenger ). Then choose "6DEF.COM Video Driver" in the list of possible sources of the client software. For example: if you are using an instant messaging program, choose the "Video options".

The size of the image coming from the driver depends on the parameters client software. If you want to change the size of the image, you must change the parameters. 6def_vd splits the image which it broadcasts into as many little screens as there are sources selected. Special effects can be added to the final video, all you have to do is choose them from the combobox.

2. Screen shot
Activate the screen shot by ticking the appropriate box.
You can then choose the type of shot:
- A motion shot will follow your cursor (which can be shown or hidden) as it moves and interacts with other objects.
- A still shot: you define the field that you want to film by dragging the frame to the chosen part of the screen. Click on the "Field" button once again to lock it into place.
To use the "Zoom", click on the "Up arrow" (to zoom in) or the "Down arrow" (to zoom out) whilst holding down the "Control " button on your keyboard.

3. Videos from cameras:
Activate this option by ticking the appropriate box.
All the cameras linked to your computer are visible in the list of peripheral devices. You can activate one or more cameras by clicking on them. By clicking on the management and connector buttons you can change the parameters for the highlighted cameras.

4. 4. Video files:
Activate this option by ticking the appropriate box.
To load a video file or a still image from a file, you must first insert it into the list by clicking on "Browse" or by dragging it into the main window. Play the file by ticking its name on the list. If you want to remove a file from just click on it with the right mouse button.
If it’s a video file, you can fast forward or rewind the video highlighted in the list with the playback slider.

5. 5. To add text to the video:
Activate this option by ticking the appropriate box.
Write the text in the chosen field and then choose the font and text colour. Place the text wherever you want by clicking on the preview screen.

6. Menu
Once the software has been launched, the icon appears in the status bar of Windows (bottom right hand corner). When you right click on this icon a menu appears with different functions, including:

- Reduce or enlarge the window
- Stay at top which enables the window to stay on top of all the others and remain visible
- Automatically launch the software when Windows opens
- Opacity lets you determine the visibility of the window on the desktop
- Languages let you choose your preferred language
(N.B. The interface can be easily translated by modifying the language.ini file)
